I was pleased to see the poem Martyn contributed to this thread. I get
increasingly uneasy about people who worry and complain about what
"They" are doing to wreck the planet, or what "They" are not doing to
save it. The bottom line is that it is US, in every action we take in
every single day, that will make change. I am an old folkie, and I have
always lived by a song of Phil Ochs, one line of which goes, "I can't
live proud enough to die when I'm gone, so I guess I'll have to do it
while I'm here."

The full lyrics are here for anyone who is interested:

(When I sing it, I change the first two lines of the second to last
verse as follows:
I won't hear the owls in the night, when I'm gone
Or watch the lilies reaching for the light, when I'm gone . . .)
