Hi Tweets,

I got on to report a pair of Chipping Sparrows at
Shoreview Park this morning but I see Anne Winskie
beat me to the punch. Its been a few years since any
reports of them from the park that I'm aware of
(summer of '00 I think is when we had 2 pairs that
nested there and I'm not aware of any since). Maybe
this pair will stick around and nest? I saw two
eagles chase an Osprey with a fish and a pair of
Sharp-shinned Hawks as well, but otherwise the usual
suspects. This was only the second time I've seen an
Osprey in the park, but I haven't been very regularly
the last couple of years.

Thursday evening while walking to my car, I found a
White-crowned Sparrow behind the Center for Urban
Horticulture which sang a perfect Golden-crowned
Sparrow song and then ended with the second half of a
typical Gambel's White-crowned song. I watched in
amazement for about 5 or 10 minutes and every time the
bird opened its mouth the same confused version of
notes were uttered. I also had my first two
Black-throated Gray Warblers of the year in the same
area.
