On Saturday, Shery Thiel and I birded Wahkiakum County starting at Julia
Hansen Butler NWR, and then heading over to the Grays River where we
stopped at the covered bridge historic site, and then went to the Grays
River Salmon Hatchery, which is just inside Pacific County. Here are a
few of the species seen for the day.

American Dipper - 3 (Grays River Salmon Hatchery - Pacific Co.)
American Kestrel - 1 (west end of Longview - Cowlitz Co.)
Black Throated Gray Warbler (on the road to the salmon hatchery -
Wahkiakum Co.)
Scrub Jay - 1 (Chehalis - Lewis Co.)

Band Tailed Pigeon - 4 (also had 15 at the covered bridge historic site)
Blue Winged Teal - 2
Cinnamon Teal - 2
Wood Duck - 6
Common Loon - 1
Caspian Tern - 20+
Osprey - 2 (also had many along Hwy 4 in Cowlitz Co.)
White Tailed Kite - 2
Turkey Vulture - 6
Northern Rough winged Swallow - 1
Barn Swallow - 6
Orange Crowned Warbler - 1
Yellow Rumped Warbler - 4
Wilson's Snipe - 3
Dunlin - 1
Greater Yellowlegs - 1
Western Sandpiper - 10
Least Sandpiper - 25
Killdeer - 6 (2 parents defending their 4 babies)
