Three HERMIT THRUSH were seen along the north east slope of Mount Benson
A female MERLIN was perched in a snag and a CASSIN'S VIREO was seen along Eminskin and Lodgepole Road in Parksville.
Seven TURKEY VULTURES were soaring above Nanoose Bay near Highway 19.
A SAVANNAH SPARROW was seen carring nesting materal in the 700 block of Erminskin Road in Parksville.
A BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER was seen on lot 89 in Rivers Edge off Kaye Road in Parksville.

Monday April 19:
A LINCOLN'S SPARROW was seen in the Whiskey Creek area.
A RED-HEADED SAPSUCKER was seen in the Eaglecrest subdivison at Qualicum Beach.
A kettle of seven TURKEY VULTURES were seen above Burma Road in Nanaimo

Sunday April 18:
"RARE BIRD ALERT"
A MOURING DOVE was seen in a yard along Lost Lake Road in Nanaimo
A LINCOLN'S SPARROW was spotted at Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.
TOWNSEND'S and BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS were among the 33 species seen on the Sunday Bird Walk to Morrell Sanctuary in Nanaimo.

Saturday April 17:
Twenty HARLEQUIN DUCKS and a LONG-TAILED DUCK were sighted at Deep Bay.

Thursday April 15:
A PACIFIC SLOPED FLYCATCHER was spotted along the Cable Bay Trail in Cedar.

Wednesday April 14:
A YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, along with COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, AMERICAN COOTS, RING-NECKED DUCKS and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen at Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.
A MERLIN and RED-CROSSBILLS were seen along Irvinson Avenue in Parksville.

Hello Colin, Neil, Marilyn et al... Just wanted to let you all know that
it's just about time for the first Purple Martins to show up and since we
monitor arrival timing, we would like to receive reports of first sightings
from the observant birders out there. This was announced in the Bird Alert
last year and yielded several reports, so we would be appreciate your doing
the same again this year. Sightings can be reported by phone, fax or e-mail
to the phone number and e-mail address below, or relayed to us via the Bird
Store or Bird Hotline.
