The road up the South Fork of Wenas Creek has some rough spots in it until you get to the top of the ridge where it improves greatly. There are steep and rocky areas on the road going up to Rocky Prairie but it is the best route this time of the year. Hog Ranch Ridge Rd. that goes up from the Cascade Campground just upstream from where Dry Creek joins the North Fork of Wenas Creek might be a better route, if not too muddy. We do field trips up these roads at the annual Audubon Wenas Campout on the Memorial Day Weekend and even on that date you might find snow at some of the higher elevations.
