I was out on the coast yesterday with a few others, stopping at several
locations from Westport up to Roosevelt Beach, and it would seem that we are
still early in the migration. The weather varied from clear to blustery, and
we had some nice looks at small flocks of shorebirds. The largest numbers were
evident on the mud flats of the Elk River.

This would also be a good time to offer a cautionary suggestion. If you should
notice birds on the Port property in the vicinity of the Bowerman airstrip,
please resist the temptation to get closer looks and/or wander into this area.
Birds have caused serious damage to some of the planes, and when folks try to
find or get closer to birds, it creates a safety hazard by pushing them closer
to the airstrip.
