Unbelievable I know!! I have just had two wood ducks visit the garden! We
have no pond or pool, just great habitat for many animals with a fortune in
seed spent each week! Recently we have had 3 mallards visit, a couple and a
single lady and tonight the male mallard arrived with this strange looking
chick!!! I thought at first it was a hybrid female mallard and then I saw
the markings, a female wood duck!! I heard the male calls to her and then
sure enough the male arrived and are still in the garden eating from the
seed tray I put out for the mallards, amazing sight!! Funny how you spend
ages looking for a particular bird for its calls and songs then the
blighters arrive at your doorstep!!
This makes 38 species for the back yard this year, who needs the parks!!!
