Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 22. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On April 16 a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was at Klamath Marsh NWR.

Early BULLOCK?S ORIOLES, WESTERN TANAGERS, LAZULI BUNTINGS, and WESTERN
KINGBIRDS are now moving into the state. Heavy movements of PACIFIC LOONS
are now along the coast. The heavy sparrow movement is now coming to a peak..

On April 18 a SOLITARY SANDPIPER was on the North Spit of Coos Bay. Two
large flocks of WHIMBRELS were south of Newport the next day. On April 16 a
PARASITIC JAEGER and a FRANKLIN?S GULL were at Boiler Bay. On April 14 three
LESSER GOLDFINCHES were at Tillamook. Three BROWN PELICANS were at Seaside
April 19.

During the week CASSIN?S FINCHES visited feeders in Gresham and near
Washougal. A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at the Killin Wetlands near Banks April
18. On April 17 fifteen BLACK-NECKED STILTS and a couple of YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRDS were at the Farmer Road Marsh near Baskett Slough NWR. A
RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was at Baskett Slough April 21.

On April 18 a BREWER? SPARROW and a SAGE THRASHER was at Detroit, east of
Salem. A CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD visited a feeder April 20 at Peoria, south of
Corvallis.

On April 19 a male GNATCATCHER and a SWAINSON?S HAWK were at Tumalo State
Park west of Bend. Last weekend a LONG-TAILED DUCK was on the Madras Sewage
Ponds, flocks of TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS were south of Madras and near
Twickenham in Wheeler County. Large flocks of shorebirds were at Lower
Klamath NWR April 17, including 98 MARBLED GODWITS. A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK
was reported April 16 at Malheur NWR Headquarters.
