Tweets,

Today really was a bluebird day in paradise! The weather was absolutely
gorgeous! and the birds cooperated also.

Nothing really special today, except for the numbers of YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT. They were everywhere. Still plenty of CINNAMON TEAL
and the BLUE-WINGED TEAL was in the weeds on the pond across from the parking
lot.

Shorebirds were in small numbers with DUNLIN, LEAST SANDPIPERS and WESTERN
SANDPIPERS on the pond on the right of the trail to McAllister Creek. I also saw
a WILSON'S SNIPE out near McAllister Creek as well as several GREATER
YELLOWLEGS and 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS. I had a 4 swallow day with only the NORTHERN
ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW not observed.

I also had a BEWICK'S WREN nesting in a nest hole in a tree in the woods on
the trail from the Nisqually River Overlook and the Ring Dike.

NORTHERN HARRIERS and RED-TAILED HAWKS were seen more often today compared to
the past few weeks and the BALD EAGLES were on the nest today.

Today's non-flyers include red-eared slider on the pond at the Visitor
Center, deer inside the boardwalk and 3 river otters, 1 on McAllister Creek and 3 on
the Nisqually River.

All totaled 53 species for the day with WILSON'S SNIPE and GOLDFINCH being
new for the year. Adding in LINCOLN'S SPARROW from last week and ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLER seen Saturday gives us 89 species for the year.
