Our first pelagic trip of the year was finally greeted with excellent weather
and good sea conditions! With a near full boat of enthusiastic birders, six
from England, we had excellent looks at our most common pelagics. No major
rarities and the marine mammal list included just harbor porpoise and harbor seal.
However, the following highlights made for a wonderful day.
Hundreds of migrating Pacific Loons in breeding plumage, good numbers of
Black-footed Albatross being chumed next to the boat, a few Pink-footed
Shearwaters, hundreds of Greater White-fronted Geese in migrating formations, several
breeding plumage Bonaparte's Gulls, Black-legged Kittiwakes, only one Arctic
Tern, several Marbled Murrelets, good numbers of Cassin's Auklets up close for
viewing and a very cooperative Tufted Puffin all decked out in breeding plumage.
Our next trip is on May 15th with still some spaces available. Come and join
us for an exciting adventure on the high sea! For futher information check our
