Here are the highlights for the week at Llama Lake:

Cinnamon Teal (1 male)
Osprey
Greater Yellowlegs
Least Sandpiper
Vaux's Swift
Common Raven

-The Cinnamon Teal was first reported to me by Michael Hobbs on Wednesday,
and it has been seen everyday since.
-Today we had our first ever Osprey fly overhead.
-The Greater Yellowlegs and Least Sandpipers were seen on most days this
week, and the conditions around the lake continue to improve for shorebirds.
-The Vaux's Swift was first seen by Lou Ann Harris on Friday, and was seen
again today.
-Our first ever Common Raven was seen on Wednesday by Michael Hobbs.
-On Friday afternoon there was an amazing amount of swallows over the lake.
The swarm was mainly made up of Tree and Violet-greens, but there were also
some Barn and a Cliff thrown in to keep it interesting.

I wanted to thank all the people who have gone out to the lake and reported
their sightings to me. For the week, we had 40 species of birds at the
lake. For the year we have seen 63 species.

On another note, today I drove out to the end of E Griffin Creek Rd, which
is just south of Carnation and had a few highlights. The best bird out
there was my first empid of the year, a calling PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER.
We also had a singing BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER and ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLER. This is a pretty neat place because at the end of E Griffin Creek
Rd, there is a logging road that is now closed to motor vehicles. This
logging road basically follows Griffin Creek up through a dense riparian
habitat. Fun!
