In years past, Eagles stealing fish from Ospreys provides high drama on Pine
Lake on the Sammamish Plateau. The Eagles perch in the trees and wait for
Osprey to do all the work, then they chase him down relentlessly. Osprey is so
heavy with water, that he rarely gets away. I've seen them circle up into the sky
until they were out of sight, but we could still hear poor Osprey screaming
"Get away! Go catch your own fish you lazy so-and-so!!"

This spring is different, however, because Pine Lake Park is closed until the
end of May, undergoing renovations. So, with no public access to the lake, it
was not stocked with fish, we had no opening day, and the raptors have passed
us by, presumably to carry on with their antics on Beaver and Sammamish
lakes. I miss all the drama the raptors provide. Maybe in late May . . . .
