Thursday, July 15, 9:00 PM. Hi, Tom Aversa going on a trip today down to the
Ridgefield area down in Clark County. There was a couple of CLARK'S GREBES
that were courting and such with about 34 WESTERN GREBES on Vancouver Lake.
Also there were two female REDHEADS with broods on Post Office Lake down
there, unfortunately, you can't really access Post Office Lake very well any
more, the road is closed. You have to walk down to it. Also, there were
about 8 BANK SWALLOWS at the River S Unit and 3 or 4 YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRDS. Thanks.

Sunday, July 18, 1:20 PM. This is Rachel Lawson, Birdbox System
Administrator. I have a report from Bob Norton on Saturday, July 17 of a
breeding plumage LAUGHING GULL at the mouth of Kalaloch Creek, Jefferson
County near Kalaloch Lodge in Olympic National Park. He noted many important
field marks and the directions to the bird is to drive to the southwest of
Kalaloch Lodge, through the cottages to some parking places near the ocean.
There are steps down to the beach and a narrow clear path through the beach
logs. At this spot there were about 1500 gulls, mostly CALIFORNIA and some
WESTERN'S. Beach walkers will sometimes flush the birds but they come back.

Saturday July 24, 6: 29 PM. Hi. This is Stephen Mlodinow. Today at Crockett
Lake there weren't many shorebirds but there was a nice variety. There was a
SOLITARY SANDPIPER, 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, a juvenile BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, 3
juvenile SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS, 2 juv WILSON'S PHALAROPES , several
hundred WESTERN S about half juvs, half adults, about 10 to 15 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS mostly juveniles and about 10 LONG-BILED AND 10 SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHERS all adults. And that's about it. Good luck and good birding!

Sunday, July 25, 11:29 AM. Hi. My name is Jeff Bryant and I'm at (206)
356-9245. Right now I'm at Shine Tidelands Park which is just at the west
side of the Hood Canal Bridge and about half way down the bridge, on the
water on the north side is an eclipse plumaged adult LITTLE GULL . That's
all I've got, good birding!

Sunday, July 25, 7:54 PM. This is Michael Fleming, (206) 297-3234. Today I
went up to Paradise to see if I could find the WHITE-TAILED PTARMIGANS that
were there last year and I did locate a couple, a male and a female. If you
want to see them, Take the Skyline Trail up to Panorama Point. At that point
there is a trail that takes off, a High Skyline Trail which you can take if
you want to avoid the snow patches. If you just want to go ahead across the
snow patches, continue on the main trail about 0.3 mile and then the High
Skyline Trail will intersect with the mail trail again. At that point,
roughly 150 yards beyond there, the High Skyline Trail curves around the
side of a hill, at that point, there is a snow patch down below the trail
with some shale on one side and a kind of a green meadow going down to it.
The PTARMIGAN were in the shale roughly about 30 feet off the trail. Also on
the High Skyline Trail I did see some ROSY FINCHES. Good luck and good

Sunday, July 25, 8:22 PM. This is Michael Fleming, (206) 297-3234, reporting
on a trip made yesterday to Jetty Island in Everett. On the island, I had a
few shorebirds. I had a couple of SEMIPAMATED SANDPIPERS. I did have a BAIRD
'S SANDPIPER. While I was there I ran in to Ollie and Grace Olliver, and
together we had pretty good looks at a pair of ARCTIC TERNS. Good luck and
