I had just got up from my computer to go do some outside work, looked out
the upstairs window on the way, and there, standing in the backyard was a
beautiful male varied thrush in quite handsome plumage. Quite frankly, I'm
a bit shocked. I have lots of varied thrushes in the winter, usually
beginning in October. It's heavily wooded here and I'm at about 700+ feet,
but this is, by far, the earliest I have ever had one in the yard.
