Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 5. If you anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

On August 3 a basic plumaged SPOTTED REDSHANK was at Whalen Island County
park at Sandlake. It could not be relocated. On July 30 a RED-NECKED STINT
was at the mouth of the Necanicum River.

A LONG-BILLED MURRELET and an ANCIENT MURRELET were reported July 31 at
Cannon Beach. A MURPHY?S PETREL, four FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATERS, and seven
SHORT-TAILED SHEARWATERS were reported July 31 from a fishing boat within
eight miles of shore out of Coos Bay.

A WILLET was at the mouth of the Siuslaw River August 3. That day 400
SURFBIRDS were at Yachats.

A SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was at the Vanport Wetlands August 3. Two
LONG-BILLED CURLEWS were at the Portland Airport August 1. A subadult
COSTA?S HUMMINGBIRD visited a southeast Portland feeder July 31. An immature
SNOWY EGRET is now at the Tualatin NWR and is being seen from refuge
headquarters.

On July 31 two GOLDEN EAGLES were at Fern Ridge Reservoir. Post-breeding
dispersals have brought a WRENTIT into Eugene and two BREWER?S SPARROWS to
Whetstone Prairie north of Central Point. A first summer plumaged MEW GULL
was at McNary Dam August 3. On July 30 two RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS and a BLACK
PHOEBE were north of the P Ranch at Malheur NWR.
