Hi Tweeters and Inland Birders,

Mike intended to say Red-necked Stint, which Nancy LaFramboise found on the Yakima River Delta this morning. I hope that Nancy will post an message about her incredible sighting today. She called me at about 1:30 p.m. and I was standing next to her by 3:00, having made a pretty quick trip from Yakima to Kennewick. The flock of peeps, mostly Western Sandpipers, that the stint, was, flew about twenty minutes before I got there. Nancy and I were unable to find it, so she went home, having been there since 9:00.

Kerry Turley, whom I called on my way from Yakima to the Yakima River Delta, showed up shortly after 5:00 and we found the stint about twenty minutes later. It was quite a distance away from us but the light conditions were very good. We feel we got a decent look at this incredible bird, which was in alternate plumage. It was too far away for a photo. Kerry and I watched it for about fifteen minutes before the flock again flew, this time to mudflats along the Columbia River and totally out of sight from our location.
