August 1, 7:07 PM - Hello, this is Jeff Gibson up in Everett (425 252
3010). I was at Spencer Island today, first about mid-day and saw
three, possibly four, EASTERN KINGBIRDS. They were along the slough
north of the Spencer Island bridge, just north of the State Game
Department boundary there. They were out there for about an hour, very
vocal, flycatching around. They stuck around the same area the whole
hour I was out there. It made me wonder if maybe they were breeding out
there. Interested in knowing if anyone knew of that occurring. I have
seen a single bird out there about this time of year in 2001. That's
all I've got. Thanks.

August 3, 3:38 PM - Charlie Wright calling. Today I was birding on the
coast of Washington at North Cove and had a near adult BLACK TAILED
GULL. This is at the overlook on Highway 101 at milepost 20.6. I first
saw it about 1:30 and we watched it for about 45 minutes and got some
good videos. Good luck, and good birding.

August 5, 10:21 AM - This is Bob Morris reporting from Port Angeles
about 10:00 on Thursday. Keith (??) and I had the COMMON EIDER earlier
this morning between nine and ten about a half mile west of the ferry
terminal and just due west of the observation tower. Thank you.

August 5, 3:57 PM - Hi, this is Steven Mlodinov. I just spent 45
minutes looking at the COMMON EIDER. In the next message you'll hear
Bob Morris mention a blue viewing platform half a mile west of the
ferry dock. There is a large viewing tower at the ferry dock. That's
not the tower he is talking about. There is a smaller platform a
half-mile or so to the west. The bird is sitting on some logs about a
hundred yards west of that viewing platform. Good luck and good
birding.

August 6, 7:00 AM - Hi, this is ????? (360 627 3695). Yesterday, August
5, on the Yakima Delta in Richland, Washington, there was a RED-NECKED
STINT. It was among WESTERN & LEAST SANDPIPERS. If you follow the
directions to the Yakima Delta in the Washington Bird Finding Guide, it
was about midway between Dayton Island and Highway 240. It was also
seen on the west end closer to the highway. I will call the Birdbox
again today if it is relocated.

August 6, 9:21 AM - This is Greg Toffic. This morning I re-found the
COMMON EIDER a little bit west of where it had been reported at the
viewing platform west of the ferry terminal. The bird was at the end of
North Cedar Street which is west of that platform. Go along Marine View
Drive. You'll come to a traffic light. Before that traffic light,
there's a road North Cedar Street. Turn right there and go to the end
where the docks are. To the left there's a logging operation with logs
floating in the water. The bird was seen there. Rachel Lawson and I
observed it for a few minutes. It was actively feeding and preening up
on the logs.
