As of 3:30pm today, Sunday, August 8th, the Common Eider is still in
Port Angeles, It is just west of the blue viewing dock next to the
shipyard. The best directions I can give are to go to the intersection
where you would take a left to turn on to w 5th st, but instead turn
right. You will be driving an entrance road skirting a large gray
building. Just as the road curves there is some gravel to park on. The
Eider was fairly close, either sitting on the logs or diving and
eating. It caught what appeared to be two crabs or mollusks or some
such while I was watching. I'll be posting full frame photos within the
hour to my webspace at http://www.avianphotos.org. They will be under
Washington of course. Also seen during this time were:

Marbled Murrelet - 2
Rhinocerous Auklet - 3
Pelagic Comorant - 1
Pigeon Guillemot - 11 (from Ediz Hook)
White-winged Scoter - 12 (from Ediz Hook)
Hooded Merganser (f) - 1
Various gulls etc.

Cheers,
