Please give me good directions, your fellow birdwatchers will appreciate it.

A RED-NECKED STINT was found 5 Aug on the Yakima River Delta in Benton Co WA
by Nancy LaFramboise. The bird, seen by many observers, was still being
found through 8 Aug. To get there heading west on Interstate 182 from the
Pasco side to the Richland side, take WA 240 south across the Columbia
toward Kennewick. At the south end of the bridge take the exit for Columbia
Drive. At the stop sign, turn left onto Columbia Drive. In less than 100
yards, there is a left turn which will put you back onto WA 240 but going
north. Take that left turn but then immediately turn right onto a gravel
road that goes on the west side of the city bus parking area. Follow the
gravel road a short distance north, over a big hump and down onto a gravel
road. You can turn left and park. View the mud at the west end of the delta,
then follow the gravel road east, stopping at open areas to scan the
mudflats. Thanks to Bob Flores for forwarding those directions that were
provided by Denny Granstrand. WA DeLorme 39, BC-6.

On 4 Aug Randy Hill reports a PEREGRINE FALCON seems to have become resident
at the McCain and Para Ponds just NW of Othello, Co WA. Look for sitting on
a power pole cross arm on the lines that cross the big diked settling ponds.
>From Othello go north on Broadway (west end of town extending north from WA
24) past the processing and storage facilities and as the road crosses the
RR tracks it becomes McManamon Road. Continue across the canal and down the
hill past the 2 potato sheds. The Para Ponds are just beyond on both sides
of the road. WA DeLorme 53, B-7.

Mike and MerryLynn Denny report good shorebird numbers at the Walla Walla
River Delta in western Walla Walla Co WA. On 6 Aug they had SEMIPALMATED
PLOVERS; WESTERN, LEAST, BAIRD'S, and SPOTTED SANDPIPERS; a SANDERLING;
GREATER YELLOWLEGS; LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS; BLACK-NECKED STILTS; and
RED-NECKED PHALAROPES. On 8 Aug they added PECTORAL SANDPIPER to the list.
The delta is in western Walla Walla Co and can be accessed 0.1 mile north of
Madame Dorian Park. There's a pull-out along US 12 at milepost 306.9 and a
path to the delta. WA DeLorme 40, D-1.

A WHITE-FACED IBIS was at Mann Lake, east of Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID on 6
Aug according to Claire and Sharon Wiser. Also there were a couple of
AMERICAN AVOCETS. From the north end of Lewiston, follow US 12 across the
river and take a left at the first traffic light heading up the 21st Street
hill. Follow it as it becomes Thain. When it narrows from 4 lanes to 2, turn
left onto Powers Avenue. Follow Powers out into the country and to the grain
elevators and the reservoir. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

I'm going to be gone birding for the next couple of weeks. Cindy McCormick
will be handling the RBAs. Dave Holick will be updating the phone. Thanks
Cindy and Dave!

Good birding.
