I too was successful at seeing the White-tailed Ptarmigan above Paradise. I was there in the rain early Saturday morning, and saw a single bird on the Skyline Trail about a quarter mile above where the Golden Gate Trail joins it. A Blue Grouse ws seen just below this point, right at the last trees on the trail. Photos of these two wet birds can be viewed at:
