Tweeters,
(Delay in posting due to no access to computer.)
I camped at Jim Creek Naval Radio Station over this past weekend and managed to get in a bit of birding on the side. Jim Creek is located about mid-way between and east of Arlington and Granite Falls, WA (N 48 deg 10 min 52 sec; W 121 deg 56 min 07 sec gives about the center of the area). The "official" location is Osa, WA. It's about 5,000 acres, of which 250+ acres is old growth, with some remarkable examples of Sitka spruce, Douglas-fir, and Western red cedar in the old growth portion. (Marbled Murrelets are confirmed to nest there from information I received.) Most of the area isn't accessible, but what can be accessed could be very interesting, especially during the spring.

Here's a checklist of birds seen at Jim Creek: https://www.denix.osd.mil/denix/Public/ES-Programs/Conservation/Bird-Checklist/nrsj/nrsj.html

Sunday afternoon was very warm (after deluge and thunderstorms on Friday), and we saw and heard a small sampling (33 species) of the variety there. A highlight was chasing down some very alarmed robins to find the focus of their alarm: a Barred Owl.
