This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for Monday,
August 9th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with stores in
Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Featured Bird is SOLITARY SANDPIPER

Sightings for August 9th
At Cheam Lake Wetlands in Chilliwack were 4 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS, 7 EASTERN
KINGBIRDS, 2 LEAST FLYCATCHERS and a GRAY CATBIRD.

In Vancouver in the area of 33rd and Arbutus were 2 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS.

Sightings for August 8th
A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was seen at Yew Lake on Cypress Mountain.

At Reifel were 3 BULLOCK'S ORIOLES while at the Tsawwassen jetty were a
RUDDY TURNSTONE, 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and a BRANDT'S CORMORANT.

Sightings for August 7th
At the foot of 80th Street, Boundary Bay was a BAR-TAILED GODWIT. Also in
the area were 4 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES. At the foot of 72nd were 2 AMERICAN
GOLDEN PLOVERS.

At the Iona sewage ponds was a SOLITARY SANDPIPER.

At the Serpentine Fen was a BARN OWL.
