Katie,
The swifts will appear (at Chapman Elementary, NW 26th and Pettygrove) after
the first week in September. They hang around for 2-5 weeks. There's no way to
know exactly when they will show up. Numbers tend to peak the second week, so
your best bet may be the 3rd week of September. You can call the Portland
Audubon at 503-292-0304 for more info.

It really is an amazing thing to see!

Hi Tweeters,

Does anyone have information on the timing over the years of the swifts
gathering at the school in Portland? Range of start dates, duration, peak,
etc. I really want to go down and see them this year (finally!), but I need
to plan well in advance so I can't wait for reports.

Thanks for any information!

Katie
