Subject: Black-tailed Gull at noon

When I left shortly after noon the Black-tailed Gull was still resting on the beach north of the stream with Caspian Terns and Heermann's Gulls. There were very few white (Larus) Gulls, most which were California and Western, to sort through. The Black-tailed had his head tucked as we picked him out from near the parking lot. Getting closer the bird stood up and walked a few feet farther north and again tucked his head. The back and sides of the head were the first things noticed along with the dark coloration on such a small gull. Thanks to those who have left information on tweeters for the rest of us who saw it today.
