I went to Port Angeles today and immediatly found the COMMON EIDER on one of the log booms. Also in the area were:
Harlequin Duck- 20
Common Murre- 2
Mew Gull- 3
We then headed over to the oyster house road area looking for the Bar-Tailed Godwit and could not find the bird, others seen were:
Brant- 1 on the graveyard spit
Black Turnstone- 2
Ruddy Tunstone- 2
Black-bellied Plover- 5
Next I checked the area around the Three Crabs Restaurant, dipped on the godwit again but did find:
Whimbrel- 1 along the beach
Marbled Godwit- 2 along the beach
Red-Necked Phalarope- 1 in the tidal pool
Black Oystercatcher- 1
It was a great day even without the godwit but it looks like I will have another crack at this potential lifer at tokeland where I will be going on friday! good birding
