Hi Tweets:

Unless one is chasing rareties or shorebirds it's not easy going birding in
August and finding a place to avoid the heat. However, an East Lake Washington
Audubon field trip to an eastside King County park surpassed expectations.
When the ten birders arrived at Moss Lake KCP, a Greater Yellowlegs could be
heard calling. Wood Duck, Vaux's Swift, Pileated Woodpecker, Cedar Waxwing, and
swallows were seen near the lake. Pacific-slope and Willow Flycatcher and
Brown Creeper were seen along the trail. Finally the flock of about 40 Evening
Grosbeaks came into view as they foraged in the trees. Many Band-tailed
Pigeons flew overhead along with a few Turkey Vultures. Mourning Dove and American
Kestrel added to the day's count of 25 species. Calling Red Crossbills gave
a fly-by. During lunch, a soaring juvenile Cooper's Hawk gave everyone great
looks at the beautifully barred wings and banded tail.
