This week has been fantastic at my feeder: band tailed pigeons, several
pileated woodpeckers, downy and hairy adult and youth, northern flickers,
Stellar's jay, red-breasted nuthatches everywhere with chestnut backed
chickadees zipping in and out. Black headed grosbeaks are on the wane and a
one scragly looking song sparrow youngster without a tail. House finches
too. And a sharp-shinned hawk swoops in on occassion.
The most fun is to take the hose and spray the ferns. The chickadees,
and sometimes nuthatches come flying and play in the spray then go to ground
and drink for the rivelets of water (there is a birdbath nearby too).
