Sightings for August 13

An imm. DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT was found at the N. end Vaseux Lake (BL).

In Kelowna, an adult MEW GULL has returned to the MacDonald's parking lot at
Hwy 33 and Hollywood Road (CC).

Fourteen species of shorebirds were seen at Robert Lake this evening
including a juvenile SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER, a juv. STILT SANDPIPER, a juv.
RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, 75 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 7 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 2
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS and 5 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS (CC,LR,LK,PB).


Sightings for August 12

At Robert Lake, three juv. STILT SANDPIPERS were amongst an assortment of
other shorebirds (CC). Also there, 2 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were in the
company of 2 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS (CC).

At the Maude Roxby Bird Sanctuary in Kelowna, a VIRGINIA RAIL was seen in
the marsh from the boardwalk (JM).


Sightings for August 11

Amongst Yellowlegs at Robert Lake this evening was a juvenile STILT
SANDPIPER (RT,CC,BC). Also there were 2 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, an adult
and a juvenile (CC,RT,BC).

A juv. FRANKLIN'S GULL was in a mixed flock of CALIFORNIA GULLS and
RING-BILLED GULLS at Shannon Lake Park in Westbank (MF).

In Kelowna, 2 juv. SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were on the ponds in Sutherland Hills
Regional Park (CC,RT).
