Greetings Tweeters,

Fifteen Tahoma Auduboners jumped at the chance for a summer field trip, and the opportunity to check out the Common Eider in Pt. Angeles. Although the weather was great and the views from Deer Park were awesome, the Eider was nowhere to be found this afternoon. We arrived at about 1:30 in the afternoon and stuck around until about 2:30, but it just wasn't our day. I hope to hear that others saw it and that this terrific bird hangs around a bit longer.

As for us, we did Deer Park, the trestle at Strait View Road, the Pt. Angeles waterfront, Oyster House Park, and Buzz's Ice Cream Shop in downtown Sequim. It was a bit warm most of the day, and it took all hands to do it, but we did squeeze out a total of 56 species for the day. Nothing too surprising, but a lucky few got a glimpse of a Northern Goshawk drifting over a ridge up at Deer Park.
