I thought Wilson's Plover was strictly a Gulf Coast bird! I'd be interested in seeing any answers to Judy's question.

Yesterday was a birding day for me with the highlight being two Lesser Yellowlegs at the first slough just north of the intersection of Bay View - Edison Road and Route 20. At the boat-works building in Bay View I was delighted to see 6 GBHs all in a row at the edge of the exposed mudflat.

Early afternoon was spent walking the beach and lagoon trail at Ebey's Landing Reserve west of Coupeville. I was about halfway past a flock of gulls, which included 8 or 10 Heermanns, when they did a mass liftoff and flew out to sea. Puzzled, I continued my stroll, then, a few moments later, a large bird shadow passed over me and I looked up to see an adult Bald Eagle cruising the coast line, heading for the tall pines on the ridge.

The lagoon was sparsely populated with a few Sanderlings and Killdeer. And I spotted at least one Least Sandpiper. On the return trek via the beach I did see a plover that I suspect was a Semipalmated Plover, though at first I though it was a juvenile Wilson's. Have Wilson's Plovers ever been sighted this far north?
