This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for
Thursday, August 19th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with
stores in Vancouver and North Vancouver.
Sightings for August 19th
At Boundary Bay, between 104th and 112th was a RED KNOT. 12 more RED KNOTS
were seen near the mansion. Also here were 3 STILT SANDPIPERS and 15 BLACK
TURNSTONES. There were hundreds of BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS at Boundary Bay.
Iona also had several BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and also 2 STILT SANDPIPERS.
On Duthie Avenue in Burnaby was a WESTERN TANAGER.
Sightings for August 18th
At Boundary Bay, at the foot of 96th were a WANDERING TATTLER, a SOLITARY
SANDPIPER and 3 STILT SANDPIPERS. At the foot of 112th were a BAR-TAILED
GODWIT and 2 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES.
There were another 6 STILT SANDPIPERS at Reifel.
Sightings for August 17th
At the foot of 104th, Boundary Bay was a BAR-TAILED GODWIT.
At the Tsawwassen ferry jetty were a FRANKLIN'S GULL, a WILLET, a WHIMBREL
and 3 MARBLED GODWITS.
