Hi Tweeters;
Enclosed is a photo I took today of a mystery finch. It was not possible to get a more detailed photo because of the distance to the top of the tallest trees where they like to feed. When I first heard them they sounded like Red Crossbills but when I saw the photos I was confused. First the bill does not look large enough or crossed to be this species and the overall color is not right. Unfortunately the wings are not exposed to show any markings. One thing for certain is the tail is notched. Any ideas? There are more photos if anyone wants to pursue the puzzle further. Thanks to all who respond.
