Greetings all
Spent the day down at the trail again. This time I walked from the South
Prairie parking lot to the RV Park, a much longer distance. Compared to
yesterday the Yellow Warbler and vireo numbers didn't stand out quite so
much, though there were still many of both. Many other birds were present in
far greater numbers, e.g. flycatchers and Black-throated Gray Warblers.
The highlight today was a Hermit Warbler, the first I've had on this trail.
This makes 9 species of warbler along this trail these past two days (11 so
far this year). This place hosts tremendous numbers of migrants at this
season. Even on a clear, calm day you should be able to find heaps of them
with enough work. But the recent weather doesn't hurt either!
