This evening, Alan and I checked out the Edmonds Marsh and Waterfront.
We arrived a little too close to high tide for the best birding, however
we enjoyed Caspian and one Common Terns, plus the return of our variety
of gulls. At the Marsh, we had a female NASHVILLE WARBLER in the big
western-most willow on the row. Alan saw her movements up 30' and I
spished her in to within 15' at eye level. It was the complete eye ring
we both noted first, then the smooth blending of yellow, white, and
gray. I convinced him of my ID with the yellow undertail coverts and a
white belly, no wing bars. Could be a first year bird. We heard Rail
in two places by the willows and Snipe under the marshy end of Station
1. As we relaxed in the approaching dusk, a Sharpie soared overhead
trying to spot something, a Wren or Blackbird maybe, in the reeds and
settling for one of the finches in the blackberries south of the creek.
Killdeer flew overhead, calling. A perfect evening.
