Bottle Beach, noon-ish to 4:30

1-Peregrine Falcon
100's of peeps, mostly westerns
75+ Black-Bellied Plovers, a few still in full breeding plumage
6 Ruddy Turnstones, one still in full breeding plumage
10 Black Turnstones
25+ Semi-Palmated Plovers
25+ dowitchers, both types
2 Snowy Plovers
Pintails overhead
2 Kingfishers fighting for over an hour
2 Common Yellowthroats
2 Black Throated Gray Warblers
4 Vaux's Swift
only 4 Caspian Terns
5 disappointed birders who didn't see the Black-Tailed Gull today.

It was nice visiting with the PA/Sequim Audubon group who was there when I
got there. A few I had talked to a few days before at Three Crabs. Small world.


On my way to Bottle Beach, I drove down the Preacher's Slough road outside
Montesano (following the binocular icons.) Just before the clearing there was a
small tree across the road, one that didn't fall naturally. I moved it so I
could at least turn around, and spent 15 minutes or so birding in that gravel
clearing. There was a lot of garbage down there, and I admit I got nervous,
especially being alone. My sister later told me that there had been a lot of
drug activity in that area.

Birds of note seen before I got too spooked:
1 Red-Breasted Sapsucker
2 Downy Woodpeckers
2 Black-Throated Gray Warblers
1 Swainson's Thrush
1 Townsend's Warbler
1 Common Yellowthroat
