Hello Tweeters & birders,
I like to openly respond to all of you who was concerned about bird laying dead on the outer beach in Ocean Shores. We always getting some birds washed dead on the beaches, but this sighting was in one particular area only.It was between Driftwood Drive and Marine View Drive.I am so concerned about this particular awful sightings was,in the area where there are no cars allowed to drive there was big tire marks on the upper beach, where also lot's of food print's from Gulls where. So it looked that this Gulls roosting on a high tide and got surprised. The tire marks showed that is was abusing the beach around and around there also was some big marks of least two larger dogs involved.I counted 15 and more Gulls and there really was no other birds than only Gulls involved in this incident. This I a favored place where we always finding large groups of Shorebirds roosting in migration
I myself called the police several times, where there responded real fast One where people camped on the beach exit on Driftwood drive having a wild party nights from what I could tell seeing all kind of bottles of Alcohol and trash laying around. The other times people driving erratic on the beach what was unsafe people walking in peace on the beach. This cars also where there was no cars aloud to Labor day. There enough good people what really enjoying the beach and don't disturb wildlife ,but alone the people some time with more than one dog chasing the roosting birds .There are sign on all the exit to the outer beaches saying that dogs have to be on the leach.Since this last incident ,I making an afford to talking to the Ocean Shore Police what patrolling Ocean Shores for recreation purpose and not raising hell and destroying what is so dear to us all.
