Tweets,

A juvenile Hudsonian Godwit was present on the Bottle Beach tide flats at
Ocosta, Wash. today. The bird was observed feeding at the water's edge
around 5:15 p.m. today, Aug. 30. It preened and showed its black tail and
white rump nicely. After bathing it briefly fluttered its wings upward, and
a quick view of its dark underwings helped rule out a second ultra-rare
Black-tailed visitor to the Grays Harbor/Willapa Bay area. There were loads
of Black-bellied Plovers and Short-billed Dowitchers and Western Sandpipers
present, and a few Baird's Sandpipers, all of which we (eleven birders
altogether) gave up sorting through to study the godwit as it followed the
rapidly departing Bottle Beach tideline outward.

The Black-tailed Gull was not seen during three different stops during the
day at the North Cove overlook, despite the presence of many hundreds of
gulls. Also, the Bar-tailed Godwit seen earlier this month at Tokeland was
not found among the hundreds of Marbled Godwits there, which were easy to
study as the fed and flew about near the marina.
