I was standing in the sunshine near our feeders today, admiring closeup the
red-breasted nuthatches, when a chickadee flitted up quite close and
friendly. It took me a moment to recognize that it was odd, and I then
realized it was one of those Mtn Chickadees which have apparently been
abandoning the mountains this year.
