Hi Tweets,

The Moses Lake CBC is now history. Several highlights were recorded during
the count. 93 species were recorded during the count, a new count record.
The most notable (pending regional compiler approval) were three, yes
three, GYRFALCONS. We are wondering how this stacks up as a national record.
Four new species were added to the count circle this year. MEW GULL,
Black-capped Chickadee, Mountain Chickadee, and Least Sandpiper. MEW Gull is
a notable bird east of the cascades, while both chickadee species are
unusual in this area of Grant County. The Least Sandpipers were a pleasant
surprise and were unusual to the count and to the county at this time of
year.
Also notable were high counts for 18 species and the addition of Cackling
Goose (431 were identified as Cackling Goose, but another 2,734 were
identified only as Canada/Cackling Goose Complex Small). This dilemma pushed
the Canada Goose count downward by several thousand.
