I was asked to put the following info on Tweeters:

The McKay's Bunting was seen this morning from about 8am-9:45am by several birders (including me) at the tip of the Iona South Jetty. 9:45 was when I left.

If you plan on going, you might want to bring a bike, as it is about 2.3mi one way (about 35-45 min depending on how fast you walk) to get to the tip of the jetty. There is an unpaved (yet good) road all the way out to the tip.The buntings seem to hang out in the grassy/rocky area just beyond a concrete structure. They are approachable to about 30ft, but when flushed, they might fly off the jetty towards the airport. There are plenty of photo ops. I recommend going early, since the birds were flushed off the jetty yesterday by a park truck. Also of note is that bird feed has been put out, that the birds seem to enjoy quite a bit.

Good luck!
