Hello Paul & Fran,

Interesting subject. I have been casually observing this at the feeding area
I set up where I work. We have a nice garden in front of the
residence/offices in Puyallup?s south hill. In addition to seed scattered
widely on the ground I have one suet feeder. This is where I see the most
blatant aggressive interactions among chickadees. To sum it up in the
concise info form you suggested it would look like this:

Dominant (aggressor) species: Black-capped Chickadee
Subordinate species: Chestnut-backed Chickadee
Description of interaction: Displacement from a suet feeder
Location: South Hill Puyallup, Pierce County
Date: ongoing (suet in place since 10/?04
At feeder? Yes
Additional notes: I don?t think I?ve ever seen a CB Chickadee displace a
Black-capped Chickadee

I will watch with continued interest and if I see anything further which
seems worth reporting I?ll let you know.

Good luck,

Jim Flynn
