Mary,

On Christmas Day my wife and I saw several sodden, bedraggled and depressed
birders glumly scouring the neighborhood. It was the day that the Redwing
did not show. One man had flown in from Iowa City the day before, and was
headed out the next morning. He had also failed to see a Redwing in
Newfoundland on a previous chase. His companion had flown in from San
Francisco, and another couple were from Redding, CA.
