Hello Everyone,



I've always wondered how these little raptors manage to subdue, kill and
then fly away with such formidable prey. I'll occasionally get a saw-whet
owl in the vet clinic for treatment and have been grabbed by them on
occasion. Their grip, even in a determined owl, is rarely strong enough to
pierce the skin of my hands. The bite of a big microtus which,
unfortunately, I have also experienced is much more damaging and painful.



So, how do they do it? Has anyone out there been fortunate enough to catch a
little owl in the act?
