I've been in California over Christmas so missed out on the rarities chatter, but for the record, there was a male BAIKAL TEAL that spent the winter at the Hanalei NWR on Kauai through at least February 23, 2003, when I had the good fortune to see it. It was rather secretive, spending a good deal of time hidden in the reed beds.
