Hi Tweets,
Joe's suggestions of an immature White tailed Kite or a male Harrier could
work except for a couple of reasons. Looking at Sibleys and Peterson guides,
both show too much coloring. The bird we saw was almost snow white on the
back. There was only one stripe on the tail instead of multiples that you
would expect in both birds. The chest streaking was narrow and dark and
sparse in quantity otherwise very white. His suggestion does work for the
top of the wings of a male Harrier with a lot of white in them. The bottoms
did not have the dark inner secondaries. The bottoms were white except for
the tips.
Where's the camera when you need one? Joe does this help?
