Hello All,
Today we were invited to help out with a bird count out on the ALES ( Aired Lands Ecology Reserve). WOW what unique and interesting site. This massive area has many hidden and unexpected treasures. The passerine population appears to have taken real punishment from this winters prolonged deep snows and subzero temps. I did locate a single Hairy Woodpecker down in the Rattlesnake springs canyon and we saw two Prairie Falcons plus hundreds of Horned Larks. Ungulate numbers were also high.
