Hi Tweets, just a quick report of a few highlights this afternoon in the
Elma area. I had two Barn Swallows parked on an utility wire on Schouweiler
Rd. at the Bayview Redi-mix plant just before you get to the wetland. These
are the first Barn Swallows of the year for me. Also, out in the wetlands
of the Chehalis Wildlife area, just when I was headed back to the car I
flushed an American Bittern. I scoped the edge of the ponds in great detail
today hoping to spot a bittern, but I had no success until I wasn't really
looking anymore. Lastly, I made a quick loop on Wenzel Slough Rd., where I
spotted a Northern Shrike perched on a blackberry bush. The shrike was a
first for the year and only the second one I have spotted along Wenzel
Slough Rd.. It was located right along the road at Bill Goeres Farm, which
is at the west end of Wenzel Slough.

Good birding,
