Sherry Thiel and I birded the auto route at Ridgefield NWR on Saturday
the 14th and in Lewis County on Sunday the 15th.
At Ridgefield we saw;
Tundra Swans - 300+ - (also appeared that there were several Trumpeter
Swans mixed in)
Cinnamon Teal - 4
Ruddy Ducks - 43
Hooded Merganser - 1
Tree Swallows - 8
Yellow Rumped Warbler - 6
American Kestrel - 2
Bald Eagles - 8 (including several immatures)
Rough Legged Hawk - 1
Northern Harriers - 6
Red Tailed Hawks - 12
Western Scrub Jay - 2
In Lewis County we stopped at the Cowlitz Trout Hatchery. There we had;
Osprey - 1
Bald Eagle - 2
Red Tailed Hawk - 1
American Kestrel - 1
Herring Gull - 1
Spotted Sandpiper - 2
Pileated Woodpecker - 1
Along Gore Rd. we had 5 American Kestrels.
At the Mayfield Lake Trout Hatchery, we had;
Western Grebe - 1
Spotted Sandpiper - 1
American Dipper - 1
