Suzanne and Tweeters, thanks for doing all this work to save the colony.
I've been reading the posts and wondering if the people who move into these
houses have any idea how loud a heron colony can be (and you thought your
neighbors dog was obnoxious)? Each summer here in Oly I stop at Woodard Bay
to watch the bats come out from the bridge and get to hear the raucous
squawking coming from the colony across the water. They should have used
the noises in the Lord of the Rings movies (o.k. so I've been watching the
extended version bonus discs too often...but they did use Walrus noises as
well as some other animals that I forget right now).

I can just picture these people moving in and then suing the city of Renton
for not notifying them of the noise problem (a la residents of rural Lacey
who sued because of gull feces and stench because they decided to move onto
CHEAP land next to...A LANDFILL!!!).

Keep up the fight, I followed the story on Wisconsin birdnet this winter
about the birder's (and resident's) victory over a trap-shooting outfit who
wanted to move in to the middle of prime Greater Prairie-Chicken habitat in
central WI (where I got my lifers even!). Letter writers do have power.
