Tweets,

After a week off to visit my Dad in Florida, I was back to my Thursday walk
at Nisqually.
Due to some grandpop business with my 11 year old grandson I didn't start the
walk until 9:00 instead of the usual 8:15. My wife joined me for part of the
walk. Her comment: the sun is out, so I'm out. Bruce Jones drove down from
Shoreline. got there on time and though I was still in Florida so he started
before we got there. Good thing because he saw the SHORT-EARED OWL that we missed.

Today's walk went from 9:00 to 1:30 and brought up 45 species. New for the
year were TREE SWALLOWS, over the ponds near the parking lot, GREATER SCAUP at
McAllister Creek, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER and AMERICAN GOLDFINCH in the woods
along the Nisqually River Trail. Total for the year is 63 species. Interesting is
the fact that the count for each walk this year until today was 40 species.

There are signs that spring in on the way: many species pairing up, waterfowl
numbers are down, and tree swallows and goldfinch showing up. Next week
should be fun! I'll be back to an 8:15 start.
